See Old Wooden Houses, Visit Green Parks in Loviisa!
The Old Town, a wood house area adjacent to the town centre, is a marvellous entity of its own. There you will find a 17th century building belonging to Degerby Estate. Today the building is called Degerby Gille. Also the historical Lower District and the Garnison are idyllic wooden house areas where you can admire the craftsmanship of old masters. All houses have their own interesting history.
Considering its size, Loviisa has plenty of green parks with historical interest. Kappelinpuisto Park is one of the largest and the Esplanad Park divides the centre of Loviisa longitudinally.
The Crane Park is located opposite to the Bus Station and the Garnison Fortress Park is located nearby.
The Commandant’s Garden in front of the Town Museum displays typical decorative and useful plants from the 18th and 19th centuries. From the panorama view point Kukkukivi the sea stretches as far as the eye can see. Ehrensvärd’s Trail will take you through stunningly beautiful woods.
For instance sculptor Taisto Huttunen’s piece of environmental art can be seen in the rock park which has arisen in the Rantapuisto park in Loviisa. The piece was made from authentic masonry from the historic bridge in Sävträsk in Liljendal.
Next to the rock park there is a playground accessible for disabled persons. The playhouse in the playground was inspired by the immensely popular children’s movies about the girls Jill and Joy. The movies were filmed in Loviisa in 2013-2016.
